Why the Big Wood?

The Big Wood River is at a crossroads, facing challenges like poor water quality, a weakening macroinvertebrate environment, a declining fishery, and disconnected floodplains. These issues stem from factors such as building in floodplains, climate change, and limited data on the river. At Project Big Wood, we’re dedicated to reversing these trends because we believe in restoring this vital ecosystem for the benefit of our community, wildlife, and future generations.

It is our home water. Time to mend it.

What is the State of the Bigwood?

The "State of the Big Wood" annual report offers a detailed snapshot of the Big Wood River's health and progress over the past year. This comprehensive overview is produced annually for our stakeholders, donors, NGOs, and the wider public.
Inside the Report, You'll Find:
Current Status: An update on the river's condition and ecological performance.
Key Issues & Concerns: Challenges and opportunities we've encountered.
Future Vision: Our goals and plans for the river's restoration and enhancement.

This report is a key tool for the Project Big Wood team beyond its informative role. It helps us demonstrate our ongoing efforts and connect with others who share our passion for the Big Wood River's restoration.
